Beyond his extremely grueling role as an NBA superstar, LeBron James has been donning his father’s costume on a daily basis since 2004. Costume which also led him to establish a somewhat surprising rule for his sons, Bronny and Bryce.
It’s not easy for any NBA player to reconcile career and private life. This mission seems even tougher when you play the face of the league. And yet, LeBron James has always maintained an image as a model father since the birth of his first child. Now the father of two sons and a daughter, he makes sure to spend as much time as possible by their side and to assume his role as best as possible.
We must also believe that he has risen to the status of an example to follow for his two boys, Bronny and Bryce. Both of them have followed in his footsteps to the basketball court and continue to be talked about thanks to their performances. But if some might think that the King in no way forced them to take this trajectory towards the orange ball, he himself admitted to having directed them there a few years ago.

If they were always going to follow LeBron’s exploits, Bronny and Bryce could very well have been influenced by their father’s passion for American football. However, the latter dissuaded them for a long time, as he revealed in 2014 to ESPN :
LeBron James : Only basketball, baseball and soccer are allowed in my house.

A radical and somewhat surprising choice for many observers knowing LBJ’s love for US football. So he tried to explain:
LeBron James : We don’t want them to play it at home for the moment until they understand how physical and demanding the sport is.
Then, they will be able to make their choice at high school and we will discuss it. But right now, they don’t need to play it. There are enough other sports they can do. They play basketball, soccer, whatever they want but not football or hockey. It’s a security issue. As a parent, you try to protect your children as much as possible.
I don’t think I’m the only one who doesn’t allow their kids to play soccer. It’s just that I’m LeBron James and this is making headlines for no reason.
It is clear that Bronny and Bryce have never complained about this rule publicly and that this will perhaps allow them to both evolve sooner or later in the NBA.
Committed to the safety of his children and aware of the risks involved in playing American football, LeBron James therefore prevented Bronny and Bryce from moving towards the oval ball. The two young men obviously have nothing to complain about.
