LeBron James breaks records but don’t forget those of others. This Saturday, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar crossed the 40,000 point mark in the NBA, becoming the first player to achieve such a performance. The day after his match against Denver, the 39-year-old congratulated Caitlin Clark on another historic record.

The record had stood since 1970

At 22 years old, Caitlin Clark took the NCAA points record this Sunday, for both men and women. The playmaker surpassed the mark of 3,667 points, achieved by Pete Maravich between 1967 and 1970. A member of the University of Iowa, the American took the lead in the history books on a free throw.

During a game against Ohio State in the Big Ten conference, Caitlin Clark scored 35 points and her team won (93-83). Next year, following a draft where she could be chosen first, Clark is expected in the WNBA.

For his part, LeBron James has held the record for points scored in the NBA regular season since February 2023, where he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,390 points). At 39 years old, the “King” is living his 21st season in elite basketball but continues to physically dominate much younger players.
