Tigre obtained its first victory this Friday in the League Cup by beating Central Córdoba 1-0 at home, continuing on the eighth date.
From the start, the visitor looked better, arriving more and better, while showing an attentive Tagliamonte.
On the Matador side, Alemán’s experience was not enough to reassure his teammates, taken by the imprecision and nervousness that prevailed in the face of the team’s need to win for a double objective: to get out of last place and increase the weak average.

The team led by Julio César Falcioni underpinned a streak that goes through four games without losing (one win, three draws), with goals scored by Bruno Sepúlveda and Milton Giménez.
In this way, the Drill improved its coefficient in the average table and took it to 1.211. For its part, Cristian “Ogro” Fabbiani’s team continues in the relegation zone, with a record of 0.625.
During the first half, the home team exerted a slight predominance. The 4-4-2 arranged by Falcioni showed greater effectiveness than the formation used by Fabbiani, who sought innovation with Walter Acuña moving on the left side.
Banfield took the lead after a corner kick taken from the right, the Uruguayan Yvo Calleros headed into the area, the ball deflected slightly off a defender and fell to Sepúlveda, who – empowered – touched it to decree the opening.
In the second period, Fabbiani tried an offensive scheme with three forwards, after the entry of José Méndez. But Riestra had a hard time gaining depth and hardly bothered a local defense that remained orderly.
The clearest chance to equalize came with Jonathan Goitia, who tried from outside the area and the shot hit the crossbar, when Marcelo Barovero already appeared defeated.
Banfield preferred to go against it: Giménez showed his credentials as a scorer and dispatched a violent shot, which left Arce without the possibility of intervention for the final 2-0.
On the ninth date, Banfield will visit Atlético Tucumán, while Riestra will receive Talleres de Córdoba.
