The Panthers have acquired Tarasenko from the Sens in exchange for two draft picks.
The addition of Tarasenko to the Panthers’ roster brings a skilled top-six forward and valuable playoff experience, potentially aiding the team in their quest for their first franchise title. In the current season, he has recorded 17 goals and 41 points in 57 games during his brief time with the Senators. With a track record of 44 goals and 64 points in 97 postseason games, including 11 goals in the Blues’ 2019 Stanley Cup victory, Tarasenko’s playoff experience will be a valuable asset on the wing.

“According to Panthers GM Bill Zito, Vladimir is a highly experienced and talented winger who will add another dynamic offensive element to our team as we continue on with the rest of our season. We are thrilled to have him join our roster and compete for the Stanley Cup once more.”
The Florida Panthers, already favored to win the Stanley Cup, have further bolstered their prospects by acquiring winger Vladimir Tarasenko from the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.
During the same playoff period, the Panthers have been steadily improving, making it their most successful stretch in franchise history. Despite only having nine playoff appearances, the Panthers are on track to make it to the postseason for the fifth year in a row. over
During this season, the Panthers (43-16-4) are considered top contenders for the Stanley Cup and are often mentioned as one of the best teams in the NHL. As of Wednesday, they have won six consecutive games and currently hold a three-point lead.
The Senators are set to gain a 2024 fourth-round pick that will become a 2026 third-round pick if the Panthers become victorious in the Stanley Cup. Additionally, they will acquire a 2025 third-round pick and are keeping half of Tarasenko’s million salary.
Tarasenko is entering his second consecutive year of being traded before the deadline. He had previously played for the Blues his entire career, but last season he was traded to the New York Rangers to help with their playoffs. Despite scoring three goals and four points in a seven-game series against the New Jersey Devils, the Rangers were ultimately eliminated in the first round.
Tarasenko, who is 32 years old, has played in 57 games for the Senators during this season. He has accumulated 41 points (17 goals and 24 assists) and holds the record for the most game-winning goals on the team with four. He also holds the second-highest plus/minus rating on the team with a plus-13.
In the previous year, the Panthers secured the last wild-card position in the Eastern Conference and surprised the top-seeded Boston Bruins, who held the best record in NHL history during the regular season. Despite facing major setbacks due to injuries, the Panthers persevered and made it to the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in their franchise history before ultimately losing to the Golden Knights in five games.
The Washington Capitals have traded winger Anthony Mantha to the Vegas Golden Knights.
