Latvian Tennis Star Ostapenko Falls to Former World Number One Kerber at Tournament

The Latvian tennis player, who is in tenth place in the WTA ranking and is seeded in the tournament with this number, lost 7-5, 3-6, 3-6 to former world number one Angelika Kerber from Germany, who occupies the 607th place in the WTA ranking.

Ostapenko started the game with a serve, both tennis players won their service games until the fourth game, when Latvia’s first racket took the lead with 3-1. In the very next game, the German fought back and, winning four games in a row, achieved 5-3 in her favor.

Ostapenko won the next four games, winning two set points in the ninth game and the 12th game, serving for Kerber, winning “dry”.

Ostapenko opened the second set on serve and won the first two games, using the second of three consecutive break points in the second.

Kerber responded with four straight games to make it 4-2.

In the seventh game, Ostapenko gave her opponent two break points, but got closer to 3-4.

It was her final point of the set as Kerber celebrated a 6-3 victory.

In the third set, which Kerber started with a serve, the tennis player who did not serve won the first four games.

Kerber was the first to win her service game in the fifth game, but in the eighth game she reached 5-3 with the second break point.
