Lakers Outlast Bucks in Double-Overtime Thriller, Warriors Continue Winning Streak

NBA: the Lakers beat the Bucks after a crazy game, the Warriors win again

The Los Angeles Lakers won a crazy game after two overtimes against the Milwaukee Bucks, while the Warriors came back to win tonight in Miami. The Thunder also did well.

Despite trailing by 19 points on two separate occasions during the game, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 128-124 after two overtimes.

Without LeBron James, resting due to an ankle injury, the Lakers were able to count on an immense Anthony Davis, who scored 34 points and 23 rebounds in 52 minutes of play.

Davis was also omnipresent on defense, with a decisive counterattack on Damian Lillard at the end of the first overtime period. With the two teams tied in the second overtime, the great defense of the All-Star pivot on Giannis Antetokounmpo allowed teammate Austin Reaves (in triple-double with 29 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists) to give the Angelinos an advantage by three points late, before Davis closed the game with free throws.

“I was tired, but when it gets to that point, it becomes a mental thing,” commented Reaves. “He stayed for almost the whole game cheering for us, even when he was out. Every time he’s on the floor, with his points, his rebounds, his defense, he has an impact,” he added, praising Davis.

The Lakers didn’t lead even once in regulation time in this crazy game, which keeps them in third place in the Western Conference (40 wins – 32 losses) and keeps Phoenix under pressure (eighth, at 42-30).

Giannis Antetokounmpo, who missed two crucial shots at the end of the second overtime, had 29 points, 21 rebounds and 11 assists, for a triple-double that wasn’t enough to win.

Oklahoma aims for the top

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder outlasted the New Orleans Pelicans 119-112 at home to keep their hopes of finishing first in the Western Conference alive.

With 51 wins and 21 losses, OKC is currently in second place and just one win behind leaders Denver (51-21), with just under three weeks left in the regular season. The defeat drops the Pelicans to fifth place, with one more defeat than the fourth-placed Los Angeles Clippers.

After two defeats, however, the Golden State Warriors of Stephen Curry (17 points) and Klay Thompson (28 points) beat the Miami Heat (113-92).

The Warriors (37 wins – 34 losses) remain one game ahead of the Houston Rockets (36-35), who they will meet again on April 4, to share tenth place in the West, the last position available for the play-offs.

A fundamental victory also for the Dallas Mavericks, who won nine of the last ten games and beat Sacramento 132-96 in the direct match, climbing to sixth place in the standings.
