Tennis professional Dominik Koepfer missed what was probably the biggest victory of his career at the ATP Masters in Miami. The 29-year-old ultimately lost 6:7 (5:7), 0:6 in the round of 16 against last year’s winner Daniil Medvedev. The Russian, on the other hand, can still dream of defending his title for the first time on the ATP tour; so far he has won all of his 20 tournament victories at different locations.

In the first set, Koepfer was ahead 4-0 in the tiebreak against the Melbourne finalist, but gave up the set after 1:01 hours. After that, Medvedev was overwhelmingly superior, didn’t give up any more games and used his first match point after a total of 1:31 hours. If Koepfer had moved into the next round, that would have put him near the top 40 in the world rankings.

Zverev’s last German hope

Olympic champion Alexander Zverev is the last remaining German who still has a chance of making it to the quarter-finals on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. The Hamburg native will face Russian Karen Khachanow in the new edition of the Tokyo final.
