Kings U18 Basketball Team Finishes 5th in Tournament: A Valuable Experience for a New Team

The Kings U18s, who participated in the tournament for the first time as a team, finished the tournament in 5th place.
In the first game against Japan Aviation High School, they chased a double-digit point difference until the middle of the game, and continued attacking without giving in to the opponent’s height, catching up to three points in the final stages, but unfortunately lost 60-64. In the ensuing match against Miku Technical High School, the team suffered from the opponent’s fierce defense from beginning to end, resulting in a loss 52-79.
In the match for 5th and 6th place against Koza High School, the battle continued until the third quarter, but #77 Ryunosuke Satori struggled with 37 points and 19 rebounds, leading his team to a 96-82 victory.

It was very meaningful for Kings U18 to be able to participate in this tournament, which brings together strong schools from within and outside the prefecture, and it was a very valuable experience for a new team that has just started.
We appreciate your continued support for the Kings U18 as they continue to grow.

After the tournament, we invited all the players and coaches from the participating schools to the match between the Ryukyu Golden Kings and Akita Northern Happinets, which was held at the Okinawa Arena on Sunday, March 24th.
Thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to come to the Kings home game.

▽Comments from Tsubasa Yonamine Kings U18 head coach
I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this historic tournament. Playing against high school teams that we don’t normally play against was a valuable asset for us. We faced many challenges both as a team and as individuals, playing against one of the strongest teams in the country, but I felt that we still lacked the ability to overcome individual challenges, patience, and ability to execute. Additionally, there were some areas that we were not used to playing two games a day, and the situation continued to be tough, but the fact that we were able to see the team’s potential to improve during this period is a positive sign. I believe that the level of competition will rise by working hard beyond the boundaries of high school and B youth, so I am confident that the experience of this tournament will definitely be useful in the future in terms of increasing the speed of the players’ growth. Masu.
Once again, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the executive committee and everyone involved in this event. I’m really thankful to you.

Throughout these two days, I was able to learn and take on challenges not only in terms of scoring, but also in terms of creating a team atmosphere. As an individual, I was able to lead the team, and it was good that I was able to use my voice when attacking the ring or chasing situations. I will continue to strive to create a positive atmosphere during daily practice. We appreciate your continued support so that we can continue to grow.
