Kickboxing: Ile-de-France resident Cyril Benzaquen will be featured at the next Glory event in Paris

The Glory is back in the capital. Nearly nine months after his last evening in Paris, during which Badr Hari announced his withdrawal to everyone’s surprise because of the earthquake which had devastated Morocco, the flagship organization of world kickboxing will once again take over the Dome of Paris on April 27. The main fight of this Glory 91 has already been announced, it will pit Endy Semeleer and Chico Kwasi for the welterweight title (-77 kg).

But that’s not all. The six-time world champion in the discipline Cyril Benzaquen, 34, will also enter the ring. The 34-year-old Frenchman, who has fought in many atypical locations in his career, will make his debut in the organization, which he joined after his fight against Yohan Lidon, under the glass roof of the Grand Palais Éphémère, on February 8 last. He then bowed to the split decision.

Opposed to the Dutchman Jos van Belzen

On April 27, Cyril Benzaquen, who has 57 victories in 71 fights in his career, will therefore make a new start within Glory. The Frenchman will face the Dutchman Jos van Belzen, 10th in the welterweight category (-77 kg). Very tough opposition for the native of Clamart since van Belzen already has three victories within the organization, including one by knockout. However, he suffered a defeat against his compatriot Robin Ciric on February 11, 2023.

This fight could allow Cyril Benzaquen to enter the organization’s rankings. When announcing his signing, after his defeat against Yohan Lidon, the Ile-de-France resident declared he was aiming for the title. “After many fights and several world titles won, the Holy Grail of my career would be to win the Glory title,” he assured. This will therefore take place through the Dutchman Jos van Belzen, at the Dôme de Paris, on April 27.
