National coach Julian Nagelsmann starts the European Championship year with six DFB newcomers. Julian Nagelsmann leads Germany to the European Championships as national coach. It is still unclear what will happen next for the 36-year-old. However, Nagelsmann himself has a clear idea of when his future should become clear.
Julian Nagelsmann would prefer to make a decision about his future as a coach before the start of the European Championship. The national coach’s current contract with the DFB expires after the home tournament from June 14th to July 14th.
“If I have a contract offer before the European Championship that I am happy with and where I say I feel comfortable and that is where I see myself, then there is a high probability that I will sign it before the European Championship,” said the 36th Year-old Nagelsmann on Thursday when announcing the squad for the first international matches of the European Championship year against France and the Netherlands. “I don’t have any piece of paper lying around at the moment.” He was demonstratively calm. “I don’t feel any stress about it. I want to work successfully at the moment.”
It is expected that the former Bayern coach sees his future back at club level after the European Championship tournament. Nagelsmann would like to be able to work with a team every day again. The DFB, in turn, will wait and see how the European Championship goes.

“The probability that something will happen before the European Championships is there,” explained Nagelsmann. “As of now, there is also a chance that nothing will happen before the European Championships. That’s actually the case, and I’m not lying. It’s normal that I want to sort out the future. I think everyone has that wish. As of now there is nothing there.”

The TV channel Sky recently reported that Nagelsmann should be on Borussia Dortmund’s list again. BVB has been interested in the current national coach several times in the past, but a commitment has never been made so far. Now the former Bayern coach should be an issue again, as Dortmund head coach Edin Terzić is no longer undisputed due to the mixed Bundesliga season. After the departure of Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool FC is also looking for a new coach from the summer. The same applies to FC Barcelona.
