Julia Grabher has lost her comeback game after a long-term wrist injury. The Vorarlberg native was defeated on Wednesday at the WTA125 tournament in Antalya against 20-year-old German Noma Noha Akugue, number 185 in the world, 7:5.5:7.2:6.

The 27-year-old Grabher, Austria’s best tennis player, ended the preseason early in September due to an injury.

Operation “necessary and right”

Grabher had to undergo wrist surgery in September. The operation was necessary and the right choice “to return to the field as quickly as possible, to make sure that everything heals properly and to regain full confidence in my wrist,” said the Vorarlberg native shortly after the operation in September.
