Judo in Paris: A Path of Development Towards the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games

As the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games approach, judo intends to continue its development in the capital.

The countdown begins. In just over 100 days, the Olympic Games will kick off in Paris. An extremely strong moment for the capital, but also for certain disciplines, like judo. “This year, there are the Games in Paris, and I promise happiness every moment,” underlines Dominique Germain, president of the Paris Judo Committee.

A Committee which could particularly benefit from the Olympic dynamic to continue development already well underway. “Since the creation of the Committee in 1968, we have continued to promote the values of judo in Paris. Today, the Committee has more than 12,160 members in Paris”assures Dominique Germain.

Judo, a bearer of values

Judo, parajudo, jujitsu: throughout the year, the Paris Judo Committee manages to attract all types of audiences, from the youngest to the oldest. “When you have gone through the school of judo, the values of respect, tolerance, mutual aid and friendship have a strong impact”explains Dominique Germain, aware of the importance and authenticity of this framework offered by the discipline.

For the president of the Paris Judo Committee, “in this world where everything moves quickly, where values are lost, it is essential to continue to apply and enforce our moral code. We don’t just train judokas, we train, we shape the behavior of women and men. Judo culture is the behavior of everyone, every day, in their lives. » A judo culture that just needs to continue to grow with the Games as a real boost.
