Jorge Martin wins the Portuguese GP without trembling

Around twenty fairly uneventful laps, and suddenly, racing incidents that will make you scream thrilling. If Jorge Martin (Ducati Parmac) experienced this Portuguese Grand Prix alone and won for the sixth time in his career in the category, after making a successful start and quickly taking first place before flying away, it It was behind the Spaniard that everything happened.

Firstly thanks to Pedro Acosta (KTM GasGas), who finished on the podium (3rd) for his second race in MotoGP. Seventh on the grid, the young Spaniard quickly found himself fighting with the two official KTMs of Brad Binder and Jack Miller, on which he took the advantage. He then came back like a ball on Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini), whom he crushed like a rookie.

The fight with the reigning double world champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) was more bitter. A first overtake on lap 12, but the GasGas driver slips and has to let the Italian pass again. It’s only a postponement, and on lap 21, the rookie’s attack, unstoppable, is this time the right one. He took 4th place, which would turn into a podium when Maverick Vinales (Aprilia), then 2nd, experienced a mechanical problem on the last lap.

Quartararo 7e, Zarco saves a point

The other main event of the race was the collision between Bagnaia and Marquez, on the 23rd lap. The official Ducati rider, no doubt a little annoyed at having been overtaken by Acosta two laps before, gave way in front of Marquez, touching him in a low-speed corner. Both men fell, but got up. The Ducati Gresini rider was able to finish the race, in 16th place. His rival had to return to the pits to retire, and saw Martin, leader from the first to the last lap, take control of the Championship.

As for the French, they once again experienced a fairly anonymous race. Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), 9th on the grid, finished the Grand Prix in 7th place, unable to fight at the front or even worry the official KTM riders in front of him, but taking advantage of the incidents at the end of the race to move up the hierarchy. Starting 19th, Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) lost a few positions at the start but quickly regained them. He remained at the back of the pack but still managed to score a point, that of 15th place.
