Johan Santana Returns to Minnesota Twins as Mentor for Pitching Staff

Johan Santana returned to the Minnesota Twins to bring all his experience to the pitching staff. The one born in Tovar, Mérida state, is experiencing a new stage with the team with which he won two Cy Young awards.

A couple of weeks ago, the Venezuelan was seen sharing with Pablo López, who is on track to be the star of the Twins rotation.

“Experience is everything. I’ve been in this game long enough to know a few things. When you see that, you just step forward and say it. That’s why I’m here,” Santana declared to Las Mayores.

Obviously they are different times, currently in baseball there is more technology, more statistics. And that’s why Santana is also willing to learn.

“It’s different than when I played, but it’s still the same game. Just because of the way you play and all the tools they have now. I think it is very useful. “I’m adapting,” Santana said.

The Creole currently serves as a kind of mentor in Minnesota. And this being his first time, Johan Santana has not yet defined his future in this role.

“I don’t know where this is going to take me, but I’m definitely enjoying my time here and I know I won’t be at home flipping channels. I think having the opportunity to come back and be surrounded by baseball is always great,” concluded Johan Santana.
