JD Martinez Signs One-Year Deal with New York Mets

According to what Jon Heyman reports from MLB Networkveteran designated hitter JD Martinez has reportedly agreed to a one-year, $12 million contract with the New York Mets.

After a difficult 2022 season with the Boston Red Sox, Martinez found success with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023, posting a .271 average with 33 home runs and 103 RBIs.

The 36-year-old veteran joins a team that didn’t have much of an option at the go-to hitter position and needed to add power to its hitting role behind first baseman Pete Alonso.

Martinez has hit 315 home runs and produced 1,002 runs in 13 seasons since the start of his career. He is sixth among active players in career home runs.
