Jannik Sinner: The Best Player in the World?

He is not (yet) world No. 1, but the best player in the world currently is Jannik Sinner. By qualifying for the semi-finals of the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells, the Italian increased his winning streak to 16 this season. Still undefeated this season, he weighs more and more on the circuit.

However, he had a hell of a test to pass during his quarter-final in the person of Jiri Lehecka. In California, the Czech can boast of a superb run where he dismissed Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas in quick succession. With a consistent ball strike and a serve capable of blowing the radar, he was an opponent to be wary of.

Zverev or Alcaraz for a place in the final

But Sinner is currently riding an irresistible wave. If the first games were the scene of very contested points, it was enough for a very slight drop in speed for the winner of the Australian Open to rush into the breach and make a first break (2-1 ) too fast. He concluded the first set without trembling on a second break.

Despite an abysmal drop in his percentage of first balls (36%), Sinner was not more worried in the second set. Lehecka did not get any break points and suffered the law of the Transalpine in the rallies.

Too quickly to the fault because without a solution, the Czech could not avoid a 19th success in a row for the Italian (counting his three victories in the Davis Cup last November). Now he is in the semi-finals, where he will face the winner of the match between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev.
