Jannik Sinner Shows Sportsmanship and Dominance in Miami Tournament Victory

Jannik Sinner put aside his heated struggle with Christopher O’Connell for a few moments to help someone in the stands.

On Tuesday, during the fourth round match between the two men at the Miami tournament, play was stopped after a break of serve recorded by the Italian in the second set, which made the score 2-0 Sinner. The official then indicated on his microphone that a person had “fainted”.

Sinner immediately went to his chair and collected bottles of water which he handed to spectators so that they could relay them to the person who was experiencing discomfort. The third-ranked player in the world also handed out towels and bags of ice to help.

Once the game resumed after a few minutes of stoppage, Sinner offered almost nothing to his opponent of the day in order to advance to the quarter-finals following a 6-4, 6-3 victory in a match which took 1 hour 51 minutes.

The first set was more complicated for the Italian who also lost his serve during a game. He still escaped with two service breaks to his credit.

Sinner beat O’Connell with 21 winners against only seven unforced errors.

In the next round, he will face the Czech and 60th racket in the world, Tomas Machac.
