Jaime Fernández says goodbye to the season due to a serious knee injury

MADRID, March 25 (EUROPA PRESS) – Lenovo Tenerife’s Spanish point guard Jaime Fernández will not play the remainder of the 2023-2024 season due to the serious injury to his right knee suffered this Sunday during the Endesa League derby against the Gran Canaria.

“The medical tests to which Jaime Fernández has been subjected have confirmed that the player suffers a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and the internal collateral ligament of the right knee, so he will have to undergo surgery once the inflammation subsides,” stated the Tenerife team on its website.

The international point guard, who was injured in the final stages of the second quarter, will now face a long period off the field and, in addition to not playing the remainder of the domestic championship, he will not be able to be among those chosen by coach Sergio Scariolo for the Valencia Pre-Olympic nor, in case of qualification, for the Paris Olympic Games.

“Thank you for the messages of encouragement that you are sending me. These are difficult times, but we will get through it. Now it’s time to spend a ‘little time’ focused on my rehabilitation to come back stronger. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” said the man from Madrid on his official ‘X’ account. ‘.
