IX Doryoku Championship: A National Judo Tournament Like No Other

Last weekend, the Würzburg pavilion hosted a massive judo tournament, the IX Doryoku Championship, which brought together no more and no less than 806 participants and almost 200 volunteers.

This championship format is one of the few existing at the national level. It is a technical championship in which judokas of different levels show the judges the techniques, flips and special movements to be valued in a particular way. So that at the end of its execution, the calculation of all the techniques is positive and they acquire the grade pass.

The Doryoku Club is committed to a methodology based on the game and the achievement of objectives, all from an educational perspective. In this edition, the judokas at the beginning of the morning received an activity booklet, which contained attention games, vocabulary, games for cognitive stimulation, development of reading skills and phonological skills, using judo as a pretext.

Once their performance was completed, each of the judokas received a medal, a badge corresponding to their belt level and an educational game. Everyone had a smile on their face, young and old, family and friends, club teachers and volunteers.

The morning was very emotional for Doryoku, not only because of the children’s graduation but because it is the club’s way of remembering Irene.

The exhibitions are the icing on this cake: two acrobatics, starring 8 black belt judokas from the club and a central one. The latter was starred by Fernando Díaz and Gerardo de Manueles, who exhibited the difficulty of a 6th Dan kata.

Various moments of the championship.

In addition, the mascot Doryneko entertained the entire morning and there were several raffles: a bike, a TV, Iberian products, photography products… All these elements, along with the role of the stand volunteers, access volunteers, judges, coordinators entry and exit, etc. They make the Doryoku championship a unique national event.
