The Spanish badminton elite has an event marked in red this weekend: the IX Absolute Master “Ciudad de Valencia” 2024, which will bring together the best national volantists in the last test of the aforementioned category before the Spanish Championship.
A total of 97 athletes from 41 clubs throughout the national territory will compete in the 5 categories at stake: men’s and women’s singles, men’s, women’s and mixed doubles. In addition, there will be representation from countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Russia and India.
As for the favorites, the candidates to win the title are names well known to everyone, such as Pablo Abián, Antonio Iglesias, Natxo Cervelló, Cristina Teruel or Nerea Ivorra.
You can also see top-level couples in action, such as the one formed by Jaume Pérez and Fran Olivares, Lorenzo Adell and Miguel Esteve, Nerea Ivorra and Claudia Leal or Elena Lorenzo and Laura Álvarez. Top-level mixed duos such as Fran Olivares and Elena Lorenzo or Claudia Leal and Jaume Pérez will also not be missing from the event.
The competition is direct elimination, with the preliminary rounds to the semi-finals being played on Saturday the 30th from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 8:00 p.m., while the finals will be played on Sunday the 31st starting at 10:00 a.m.: 00 hours.
This Absolute Master is celebrated thanks to the organization of the Spanish Badminton Federation, the Badminton Federation of the Valencian Community and the Drop Valencia Badminton Club, with the sponsorship of the Valencia City Council, the Provincial Council of Valencia, the 1st Vice Presidency and the Ministry of Culture and Sports; and Iberdrola, Yonex, Loterias y Apuestas del Estado; and with the collaboration of Victor and Verdecora.
