Italy also wins second test on USA tour

Italy’s national football team was also able to win the second international test match during a trip to the US. The European champions prevailed 2-0 against Ecuador on Sunday at the home of the New York Red Bulls. Lorenzo Pellegrini initiated the success in the third minute, the 27-year-old offensive player was successful in Harrison (New Jersey) after a blocked Dimarco free kick. Nicolo Barella (94th) ensured the final point in stoppage time.

The Inter Milan club colleague of ÖFB team striker Marko Arnautovic completed an exemplary counterattack with a lob over goalkeeper Javier Burrai. On Friday the Italians won 2-1 against Venezuela in Fort Lauderdale. In comparison to this game, this time team boss Luciano Spalletti gave eleven new players the chance to show themselves from the start. Ecuador lacked the means on the offensive for long stretches to seriously threaten the favorites, but things did get tricky at one point or another in the final phase.

For the “Squadra Azzurra”, the US trip was the starting signal for preparation for the European Championships in Germany in the summer. Most recently against Venezuela, Genoa striker Mateo Retegui scored twice.
