This is the new multifunctional building inaugurated at the ‘Giulio Onesti’ Olympic Preparation Centre, at Acqua Acetosa, which was attended by the president of CONI Giovanni Malagò, the general secretary, Carlo Mornati, the minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, and the vice presidents of CONI Silvia Salis and Claudia Giordani. “This is one of the consecrations of sport in the Constitution, being a factor in the social promotion of the psychophysical well-being of all the disciplines that will find application in this arena.
It will be a place of excellence for Olympic and Paralympic preparation. Coni is its custodian with the support of Sport and Health. This collaboration between them is something I am happy about, I see it consolidating”, the words of Minister Abodi. The structure, equipped with an integrated photovoltaic system that contributes to energy management and set up for the recovery of rainwater, contains a gym full-height multipurpose building and a lower body on the three east, south and west sides which houses the changing rooms and other support spaces for the facility. Built in the area of the former riding track, the building has an activity area of net in plan equal to 44×26 metres, with an average height of 12 meters which makes it suitable for hosting different sports disciplines such as badminton and parabadminton, basketball, 3×3 basketball, wheelchair basketball, volleyball and sitting volleyball, as well as gymnastics (artistic, rhythmic, trampoline, acrobatics and aerobics), five-a-side football, handball, roller sports, boxing and disciplines such as judo, wrestling, karate and martial arts and with a wall dedicated to sport climbing being set up outside. “We are very happy and content, it is one of those moments that reward us. The birth of a sports infrastructure allows you to travel with your head, fantasize, imagine.
