Italian Para-Archery Team Prepares for Key Tournament in Dubai as Paralympic Qualification Looms

Decisive moment for the season of the Italian Para-Archery team. The Azzurri flew to Dubai where the Fazza World Ranking Tournament will take place from 2 to 7 March, which will also include the Paralympic qualification tournament. On Wednesday, Italy will try to snatch more cards for Paris 2024 after the 7 already won last season: 2 in the women’s Olympic and 1 with men’s, women’s W1, men’s and women’s compound and men’s recurve. The objective is to obtain a second pass in all divisions to arrive in full force at the challenges on French soil.

THE PROGRAM – The hottest day in Dubai will be Wednesday 6 March when the qualifying tournament for the next Paris 2024 Paralympics is scheduled. First the Italians and all the other archers will begin to measure the competition field and their opponents with the initial days of the Fazza Para-Archery Tournament with the recurve, men’s W1 and women’s compound qualifications on Sunday. The following day there will be space for the men’s compound and women’s W1 ranking rounds, while on Thursday there will be all the individual clashes up to the semi-finals. Said of Wednesday dedicated to gaining Paralympic passes, the Dubai competition will end on Thursday 7th with all the team and individual finals.

THE CALLED
– In the Olympic period it will be the turn of Stefano Travisani (Gruppo Sportivo Paralimpico Difesa), Roberto Airoldi (Arcieri Cameri), Giuseppe Verzini (Arcieri Cormòns), Davide Bettoni (Arcieri Gonzaga), Elisabetta Mijno (Fiamme Azzurre), Veronica Floreno (Gruppo Sportivo Paralimpico Defense) and Vincenza Petrilli (Fiamme Oro).
Six archers of the compound are Matteo Bonacina (Arcieri Delle Alpi), Giampaolo Cancelli (Arcieri Alpignano), Christian Seneca (Kosmos Rovereto), Giulia Pesci (Gruppo Sportivo Paralimpico Difesa), Eleonora Sarti (Gruppo Sportivo Paralimpico Difesa) and Maria Andrea Virgilio (Fiamme Azzurre ). In W1 the call-up came to Francesco Tomaselli (Arcieri Pol. Solese), Maurizio Panella (Gruppo Sportivo Paralimpico Difesa), Paolo Tonon (Arcieri Del Castello), Asia Pellizzari (Arcieri Del Castello) and Dalia Dameno (Polisportiva Disabili Valcamonica)
The Italian staff will be made up of the head of mission Carla Di Pasquale, the Technical Manager Guglielmo Fuchsova, the coaches Antonio Tosco and Fabio Fuchsova, the psychologist Gianni Bonas, the athletic trainer Dario Caparotta and the companion Laura Aspromonte.
