Tadei Pivk prophet in his homeland. Skysnow world title for the Friulian thanks to the forcing put in place from mid-race onwards. Surprise second place for the Spaniard Diego Diaz Ortega who precedes the defending champion Luca Del Pero. Fourth place for the Slovenian Timotej Becan ahead of the Italian Marcello Ugazio. For the record, the overall race was won by the Austrian Cristoph Hochenwarter (Sc Hermagor) who ran at individual level.

In the women’s category, a never-disputed victory for the world orienteering champion Tove Alexandersson who led from start to finish. Silver for the German Kappler Madlen who recovers at the end and finishes just 19 seconds behind the winner. Bronze of the day for the Italian Corinna Ghirardi at 1’10”. Open race won by Anna Hofer (Team Scarpa) who came fourth overall.

Lights in the night on the border mountains between Italy, Austria and Slovenia for the 2024 vertical world championship titles by skysnow. The severe slopes with peaks of around 46% of the Pramper slope on Monte Lussari are a severe test. 220 competitors at the start between national selections and athletes accredited for the open ranking. With a start at an altitude of 815m and arrival at 1790m of the Sanctuary, there were 3.6km of development to tackle with a positive difference in altitude of 974m.

Once this first test has been archived, tomorrow it will be the turn of the classic race on the Tarvisio Winter Trail route at Lago Superiore di Fusine. In the open formula, this second test will bring the curtain down on the 2024 edition of the Nortec Winter Trail Running Cup; the successful snow racing circuit with crampons which saw 4 stages take place between Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.

In this case, the last medals up for grabs were awarded by a well-tested and promoted route on the 15 km course with 515 md+. After passing a very fast initial loop, the athletes will return to the starting area and then go up the bank of Mount Mangart and reach the 1,380 m of Rifugio Zacchi. From here the strength of their crampons will be put to the test on a very technical descent that will take them back to the finish line in about 4 km. In this case, the awards ceremony will take place at 6.30pm and, starting from 8pm, there will be a memorable final party.

Numbers in hand, the two races promoted by US Mario Tosi with the patronage of the FVG Region and the Municipality of Tarvisio attracted the participation of over 550 competitors representing 27 different countries.

Also for tomorrow, in the classic test with start at 1.45 pm, the live streaming will be hosted by the RAI commentator Luciano Zanier, the speaker Silvia Vaia and the multiple mountain running champion Marco De Gasperi.
