GUADALAJARA. Doctors and interns in this career do not want to serve in the rural areas of the interior of Jalisco due to violence, said Luis Héctor Soto, president of the Association of Private Hospitals of Jalisco, at the inauguration of the Medical Expo that takes place in the facilities of the Expo Guadalajara.

“The truth of the matter is that the lack of security impacts the community in general, as well as the medical society; There are interns who no longer want to go to rural areas due to insecurity and, taking away a little bit beyond gender, doctors, our female interns, are more at risk. “Everyone has it, but women have it much more and yes, there are definitely places where there is a shortage of doctors even though the secretariat increased security and supports us a lot in the hospitals,” she said.

He added that the most affected are female interns, who no longer go to areas that do not offer security guarantees in their work. In addition to insecurity, the extra working conditions that nurses perform are also a factor for these health workers to consider the profession a priority for their economy, which is why he added that in Jalisco there is a shortage of nurses and nurses since there is a great demand abroad and it takes a large part of the sector due to the job improvements it offers.

“There is a hospital here, I can’t say which one, where a German delegation came and excited the nurses by saying that they are doing very well and they went to Germany, we cannot compete against that and the truth is, we are doing very well. talent. Currently there are 2.5 nurses per thousand patients in private hospitals in Jalisco, while in other parts there are eight per thousand inhabitants.

Luis Héctor Soto believes that the conditions of nurses must be improved, such as professionalizing them by creating nursing universities and not just having schools to train graduates.
