The Swiss national team can’t get past a draw in Denmark. A 17-year-old excels in Brazil’s success in London.

The Swiss national soccer team started its preparation for the European Championships with a draw. The German group opponents drew 0-0 in an international match against hosts Denmark.

At the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, however, the Swiss had to deal with the early loss of regular goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who was unable to continue playing in the first half after a collision with Rasmus Höjlund.

In the prestigious duel between England and Brazil, 17-year-old top talent Endrick (80th) scored the Selecao to a 1-0 (0-0) victory and gave the new Brazilian national coach Dorival Junior a perfect debut. The 61-year-old took over the position in January. For Endrick, who will move to Real Madrid on his 18th birthday in July, it was the first goal for the senior national team.

Brazil still had to make do at Wembley Stadium in London without top star Neymar, who had a serious knee injury, while England’s striker Harry Kane from FC Bayern was unavailable due to his ankle injury.

Record goal for Austria

Earlier in the evening, Christoph Baumgartner had led the Austrians to victory against Slovakia with a record goal. In the 2-0 (1-0) win in Bratislava, the RB Leipzig professional took the lead after just seven seconds. The 24-year-old scored the fastest goal in the ÖFB team’s international history. Andreas Weimann (83rd) ensured the final score.

Meanwhile, Belgium suffered a disappointment with former Bundesliga coach Domenico Tedesco. In Ireland the Red Devils couldn’t get past a 0-0 draw. Without the injured top star Kevin De Bruyne, the Belgians were even lucky when goalkeeper Matz Sels was able to save a penalty from Ireland’s Evan Ferguson in the first half.
