Intense Showdown: Stade Montois Faces Élan Tursan in Coupe des Landes Quarter-final

In other times, the Montois would have presented themselves without pressure and with the feeling of having accomplished their duty, this Friday evening (10:30 p.m.), after the victory against Oloron (76-72) synonymous with almost remaining in Nationale 3 at six days to go. The objective set by President Thomas Félix therefore seems to have been achieved. Except that this weekend is the Coupe des Landes. And with it, the tension and emotions increase tenfold at the dawn of a quarter-final which could prove undecided in the Horsarrieu arenas, facing an Élan Tursan evolving very calmly in Regional 1 (i.e. one division below of the Stadium).

Indeed, the Tursanais are leaders after 18 days and remain on a superb victory (98-73) against Lons in Samadet. An ideal “preparation” before going to challenge the residents of the prefecture, in a dry match on neutral ground, with a nest egg of seven points.

The Mons challenge

But on the Mons side, all heads are turned towards the Plumaçon arenas, location of the next final on June 1, 2024, a first. Except that, to accomplish this Landes challenge, the yellow and black will have to repeat performances identical to those achieved in the championship at Layrac and against Oloron, where solidarity was real and where the collective made the difference. And this, starting this Friday.

For this, coach Christian Ortéga will be able to count on his men in form (Adrien Labanère, Valentin Bouttier-Lévy and Alvine Goram) and their partners who, at one point in the season, were influential. At Élan Tursan of co-president Benoît Lalanne, we are primarily banking on a fiery attack (89 points on average in the Pre-National) well driven by Benjamin Delseries, and on a solid defense. Élan therefore has all the parameters to aim for a possible rise to Nationale 3 and to compete with the Montois who, for their part, have only one obsession…

The probable Stade Montois group: Bouttier-Levy, Labanère, Despouys, Dupouy, Botton, Abdou Patao, Pawlicki, Campergue, Goram, Le Borgne, Ndongala Puertas.

The probable group of Elan Tursan: Sébie, Lacaule, Saubignac, Bats, Labat, Lasserenne, Lalanne, Dufau, Lalanne, Delseries, Baudoin.
