The school year is marked by the Olympic Games at the Jeanne d’Arc school in Aumale (Seine-Maritime).

In this context, Sophie Bizon’s middle and high school classes and Laurence Moreno’s CP classes received a visit from Nadine Mayeux-Labbé.

On July 5, she will carry the Olympic flame for Paris 2024.

An impressive encounter

“She introduced us to her sport and her brilliant track record,” says Laurence Moreno.

And for good reason. Nadine Mayeux-Labbé is eight times French champion, three times European champion and two times world champion in field shooting (archery).

She also won a gold medal at the World Games.

Meeting a champion, someone who has status, is impressive for young and old alike.

The champion had also brought them some medals and photos retracing her career.

“The children had a time to ask the questions they had prepared,” continues the teacher.

The children from the Aumale school were curious, attentive and interested in the sportswoman’s testimony.

This made them aware of the importance of doing sport for health, but also for self-confidence.

“I was impressed by the curiosity of the students,” notes Nadine Mayeux-Labbé, who appreciated the experience.

A collective work offered

To thank her, the children gave her a collective work representing a target made with the children’s hands.

This was decorated with archers in the style of several painters such as Mondrian, Delaunay, Matisse, Vasarely and Calder.

“Nadine Mayeux-Labbé is a very approachable and pleasant person. It has become accessible to children,” adds Laurence Moreno.

This warm intervention concluded with the Olympic Games dance and an autograph session.
