Injured ankle, Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs) absent in Sacramento

Bad news for Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs. The French rookie (20 years old) emerged from the defeat in Houston on Tuesday evening (114-101) with a sprained right ankle and will miss his team’s trip to Sacramento, scheduled for the night of Thursday to Friday. The severity of the sprain and the duration of his unavailability have not been specified.

More discreet than usual against the Rockets on Tuesday evening (10 points, 7 blocks, 6 lost balls), Victor Wembanyama was uncertain before the match, diminished by pain in his left shoulder. He twisted his ankle during the second quarter, before walking off the field and heading straight to the locker room. He reappeared at halftime to test his feelings and was finally able to finish the match.

His 7th missed match this season

This is the second time that Victor Wembanyama has suffered a right ankle injury this season. He twisted his ankle in training on December 18, missing the game against Milwaukee on the 19th, before aggravating his injury in Dallas on the 23rd by stepping on the foot of a ball boy during warm-ups before the encounter.

This physical problem forced Gregg Popovich and his staff to limit his playing time during the weeks that followed. The recent number one in the draft will miss his 7th game of the season with the Spurs.
