The ICE Hockey League has initiated an investigation into discriminatory comments and noises made by fans during the departure of a Salzburg player in Bolzano on Tuesday.
The affected clubs, match officials and league representatives were asked to submit appropriate statements and perception reports, the league said on Wednesday. Depending on this, the ICE Legal Commission handling the case will make a decision.
At the same time, the league emphasized that it categorically rejects any form of xenophobia and discrimination. Bolzano made it 2-2 with a 3-2 win in the semi-finals against Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday. The next game in the series takes place on Thursday in Salzburg.
