Ice hockey: Rossi Player of the Year for the second time

NHL legionnaire Marco Rossi has been voted Austria’s ice hockey player of the year for 2023 for the second time after 2021. The Vorarlberger, who plays for Minnesota Wild, won the election conducted among experts with 55 points ahead of Canadian legionnaire David Reinbacher (25) and team player Anna Meixner (23).

“It is nice to receive this award. You are happy about such honors and proud that you are being rewarded for your hard work. Personally, I don’t care much about awards. My focus is on the team and on progressing as a team, winning games and ideally winning the Stanley Cup,” said Rossi about the second award. The 22-year-old succeeds Marco Kasper, who won the election last year.

Before the match on Friday night (CET) against the San Jose Sharks, Rossi has 20 goals and 17 assists in 71 games this NHL season. He particularly remembers the first NHL goal. A lot of pressure was taken off of him, said the Vorarlberg native in an interview with the Austrian Ice Hockey Association (ÖEHV).
