Iberdrola and FCC sign an agreement to promote the recycling of photovoltaic panels |

Iberdrola, a company chaired by Ignacio Galán and FCC, a subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente, have signed an agreement for the industrial recycling of photovoltaic panels, which will have as its reference center the industrial treatment plant that FCC Ámbito recently launched in the town. from Cadrete, in Zaragoza.

This agreement is signed through the energy company’s program, PERSEO Venture Builder, and will allow both companies to collaborate to promote the recycling of photovoltaic plans on an industrial scale. In addition, the two companies will monitor and focus on the application of new treatment technologies to develop in the short or medium term, improving the industrial recovery capacity of photovoltaic panels.

Likewise, the possibility of reincorporating the materials obtained in the treatment processes as secondary raw materials in the manufacture of new photovoltaic panels will also be analyzed. To this end, possible synergies with companies owned by the company led by Ignacio Sánchez Galán, through Perseo, will be assessed in activities such as the manufacturing of photovoltaic panels or the recycling of metals.

Likewise, calls for European or national public aid will be taken into account to promote recycling.

Circular economy, basis of Iberdrola’s business model

Through this collaboration, we respond to the energy company’s commitment to a sustainable model that is part of its PERSEO program. Iberdrola thus defines its circular economy strategy as a process that affects the entire value chain, from its own production processes to those of its suppliers and customers. For this reason, the group gives priority to hiring companies with environmental management systems and promotes ecodesign, the analysis of the life cycle of each product and the use of materials with low environmental impact.

The company, as indicated on its website, also promotes the circular economy through the reduction of the use of natural resources through its commitment to decarbonization and electrification, or the more sustainable use of natural resources through the promotion of the use of more efficient and clean technologies and processes.

And Iberdrola, together with other companies, fights against climate change and the limitation of global warming. Thus, it works to decarbonize thermal demand in key sectors such as industry and manufacturing. In the words of the president of Iberdrola, “decarbonization will generate new industries and more quality employment.” In addition, the company encourages research to develop solutions to the use of waste and promotes responsible consumption with environmental awareness programs.
