Four people were killed and several others injured on Sunday when a vehicle taking part in a rally in Hungary crashed into spectators after going off the road, authorities said. The accident occurred between the towns of Labatlan and Bajot, in the Komarom Esztergom region (north). The report communicated by the police shows at least four dead and seven injured.
The reasons for leaving the road have not been established, according to a police press release.
Numerous ambulances and several rescue helicopters were dispatched to the scene. The rally ofEsztergom Nyerges was immediately stopped following this accident.
Among the injured, two were seriously injured, including a child who was evacuated to hospital with a life-threatening condition, according to medical staff cited by the Hungarian press agency MTI.
The Hungarian Motorsport Federation sent its condolences to the relatives of the victims and indicated that it would cooperate with the judicial authorities to clarify the reasons for the accident.
