The excellent surprise that has just fallen? Selon Tim MacMahon d’ESPNa return of Sengun before the end of the regular season is entirely possible :
“A return of Sengun during the regular season is within the realm of possibility. When he got hurt, he avoided a major injury but it was still a significant injury, so we assumed he would be out until the end of the season because the Rockets would have nothing to play.
I was told there was a real chance for a return at the end of the regular season, if there is interest in him returning. Of course, the first thing will be to determine if it is ok from a medical point of view. They’re not going to play him again if they’re not playing for something, but they’re putting themselves in a position where they have a chance to play for something.”

This is a tempting prospect for the Rockets, more than ever in the race for the Play-in and not completely excluded from a Playoffs spot without going through the Play-in, given the recent performances of the competition. We recall that Sengun averaged 21.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 5 assists before getting injured. Alperen Sengun, who only missed one game before his injury, only needs two more games played to be eligible for end-of-season awards.
Now, a question deserves to be asked: by missing at least ten games, how would the reintegration of Alperen Sengun take place within the Rockets collective which worked like thunder in his absence?
We especially think of Jalen Green, who has finally reached the level that was expected of him during the Turk’s absence. Player of the week and offering averages of 30.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists in almost 37 minutes during the seven games of absence of his pivot, Green shines within these Rockets.
