Historic Bolivarian Youth Games Set to Kick Off in Sucre, Bolivia

A new sporting event arrives on the continent. Starting next April 4, the city of Sucre, Bolivia, will become the epicenter of the Bolivarian Youth Games, the first competition that brings together young athletes from seven Bolivarian countries: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

This competition will mark a multi-sports celebration that promises to be historic in the promotion of the country’s new sporting talents.

The Colombian delegation will be made up of a total of 164 athletes (80 women and 84 men) and 34 coaches, who will represent the country in 17 disciplines. These young talents, between 14 and 20 years old, will compete in the competitions, with the firm intention of raising the name of the country and positioning Colombia as a sporting power.

The sports that will be part of these events will be: athletics, badminton, handball, basketball, baseball, boxing, cycling, fencing, futsal, artistic gymnastics, judo, karate-do, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming, Basque pelota, racquetball, squash, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery, triathlon and volleyball.

The director (e) of Positioning and Sports Leadership of Mindeporte, David Acosta, highlighted the importance of the Bolivarian Youth Games, as a competition platform for young people in the Olympic sector, who in the future will be the ones who will represent Colombia in the Olympic events.
