Guerrero and Springer shine despite Blue Jays’ preseason loss; tough outing for Kikuchi

Despite a 10-7 loss to the Detroit Tigers in a preseason game, Vladimir Guerrero and George Springer had their share of hits. However, the outing was less happy for starter Yusei Kikuchi.

Guerrero and Springer each had three hits. Guerrero drove in a run and scored twice while Spinger crossed the plate three times.

For his part, Justin Turner was the author of a three-run home run in the defeat.

On the mound, Kikuchi gave up eight earned runs in 3.1 innings of work. He was the victim of three Tigers home runs.

For the Tigers, Andy Ibáñez notably produced four runs, including three on a home run.

Later in the day, the Jays fell 3-2 to the Baltimore Orioles.

Yariel Rodriguez allowed just one hit and two walks in three innings on the mound for the Jays. For the Orioles, Corbin Burnes allowed two runs, but only one earned, in five and a third innings.

Quebecers elsewhere

For his part, Charles Leblanc did not get a hit in two appearances and he was struck out once in the loss of the Los Angeles Angels to the Oakland A’s 11-5.

Leblanc does not know the expected camp and his batting average this spring is .071.

For the A’s, Abraham Toro pushed his average to .357 thanks to a hit, a single that scored Darell Hernaiz in the third inning. Toro also received a walk.

Finally, Édouard Julien recorded two hits, a walk and produced a run in an 8-6 loss of the Minnesota Twins against the Boston Red Sox. The Quebecer’s RBI was recorded in the third inning following a single.
