Groups of Real Madrid members prepare a large protest against the referees at the Bernabéu

Several Real Madrid member groups are organizing to deploy a big protest against the referees in the next league match to be played in the Santiago Bernabeu, this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. against Celta. A protest that, as this newspaper has learned, does not enjoy the support of the club chaired by Florentino Pérez.

The protest has its roots in the discomfort of an important part of the Madrid fans with the arbitration proceedings that are occurring in Real Madrid matches. A sensation that has multiplied in the last year, after the outbreak of the Negreira case and the discovery that Barça had been paying the former vice president of the Spanish referees for at least 17 years.

These groups of fans, who They do not belong to the RMCF Fans Stand which occupies one of the stadium’s backs, are proposing actions such as hand out red cards to make your protest evident through a tifoturning their backs on the field at some point during the run-up to the duel and singing songs like “Corruption in the Federation.”

In the League, yes; in the Champions League, no

Although Real Madrid plays this Wednesday at the Bernabéu against RB Leipzig, the organizers of this protest do not want it to take place in a Champions League match, but in a LaLiga match, since the complaints are against the Spanish referees and the body that represents them, the Technical Committee of Referees, dependent on the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

The last episode of this unrest, and the one that has ignited the march of the protest, was the outcome of the Valencia-Real Madrid match on Saturday. The referee of the crash, Jesus Gil Manzano, decided to signal the end while the white team put together an attacking play. This action, already with the match over, led to a goal from Bellingham that he did not get on the scoreboard and that would have given Madrid the three points. The Englishman was later sent off for addressing the referee “aggressively and shouting, repeating on several occasions ‘It’s a fucking goal’ (‘It’s a fucking goal’)”, as stated in the minutes.

It is not yet known who would be the recipient of this possible protest, given that the referee of the Real Madrid-Celta will be known on Thursday morning, as usual. In any case, the club is not in principle in charge of giving rise to an organized action. His strategy against this alleged referee abuse that he believes he suffers is articulated through Real Madrid TV, as this newspaper has reported.

500 euro bills with Laporta’s face

Some referee protests sponsored by fan groups have already taken place in the past. In the first classic at the Bernabéu after the Negreira case was uncovered, thousands of 500 euro bills were thrown with the face of Barça president, Joan Laporta, and cries of protest were heard. “Corruption in the Federation”a recurring motto at the Chamartín stadium.

Just a week ago, after Isidro Díaz de Mera Escuderos was injured during the Real Madrid-Sevilla game and had to be replaced, ironic chants of ‘Let Negreira come out’ were heard from the stands.
