Vega, who on Saturday had won the 10,000 meter points test, repeated his position yesterday in the 1,000 meter sprint, both in the junior category. During this weekend, Moreda hosted more than 500 skaters from thirteen countries, some already world or European champions, which shows the level that could be seen throughout the three days of competition.

Yesterday the 1,000 meter sprint was held for all categories. In the cadet category, Camila Cabanzo (Venezuela) won, who also scored a double, with Novares’ Asturian Celina Casais in second position, and Daniele Pennavana (Italy). In youth, the winners were Carla Plana (Catalan Federation) and Giorgio Ghiso (Italy); in junior Ona Rodríguez (El Prat) and the aforementioned Jorge Vega and, finally, in senior Ilaria Carrer (Italia) and Jhoan Guzmán (Celta Patín).

Parallel to the dispute of the European Cup events, others took place corresponding to the Villa de Gijón trophy organized by the same club and which is now in its nineteenth edition. There were races for all categories from sub-7 to masters.

Gijón opened the European Cup calendar, which consists of 9 events. The next appointment for the skaters will be next April 5 to 7 in the Portuguese town of Lagos, where there will once again be an Asturian presence.
