The 70-year collaboration between Germany and adidas will end in 2027.
The German Football Federation has announced that the new technical sponsor will be Nike for all national teams.
The statement reads: “The Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB) will enter into an equipment partnership with Nike Inc from 2027 to 2034. Nike will supply equipment to all DFB national teams and promote German football as a whole.” .
DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Nike and to receive their trust. This future partnership will enable the DFB to continue to address the crucial challenges for the global development of football in Germany well into the next decade It is clear, however, that until December 2026 we are committed with all our might to joint success with our long-standing and current partner, adidas, to whom German football has owed a lot for over seven decades.”
Holger Blask, Chairman of the Board of Directors said: “The awarding of the future equipment partner to Nike is the result of a transparent and non-discriminatory tender. Nike presented the best economic offer by far and also convinced with its vision, which includes a clear commitment to supporting amateur and grassroots sport, as well as the sustainable development of women’s football in Germany. The timing of the call was discussed in advance with all relevant market participants, in light of the timing of planning and preparation”.
DFB treasurer Stephan Grunwald said: “The DFB, representing 7.3 million people, is a central social institution and has a distinctive feature among sports federations: it financially supports its members rather than being financed by them This helps maintain football as a popular sport and offers club membership at relatively low fees. We are grateful to be able to look forward to an economically stable future again thanks to Nike’s commitment as an association.”
