Gasser Slopestyle-Dritte in Silvaplana – sport.ORF.at

Double Olympic champion Anna Gasser ended her season in style with a podium place in the World Cup. The Carinthian came third in the slopestyle competition for snowboarders on the Corvatsch in Silvaplana with 71.08 points, only having to admit defeat to the two Japanese Reira Iwabuchi (79.62) and Kokomo Murase (72.98). For the men, Clemens Millauer finished ninth in the 16s final.

After her fall at the end of January at the X-Games in Aspen, Gasser said she was not yet at 100 percent, but showed an appealing performance in Switzerland. After fifth place in the first, incorrect final run, the 32-year-old jumped onto the podium with the second best run in the second round. “It was certainly not my most technically difficult run, but enough to be back on the podium. I’m happy to be able to finish the season healthy and with a podium.”

Next podium place

The ÖSV model athlete was on the podium at all four World Cup starts this winter. She had also achieved this feat in the previous two seasons. The last time Gasser missed the World Cup podium was three years ago. Murase secured the slopestyle crystal ball.

Millauer botched his first run and showed a solid performance in the second with 65.94 points. The day’s victory went to Canadian Liam Brearley (88.10), who also won crystal for the discipline ranking.
