French team: Deschamps’ list for the March friendlies with classics but without Barcola

The coach of the France team Didier Deschamps revealed, this Thursday, a list of 23 players expected for the two preparatory matches for Euro 2024 (June 14-July 14) against Germany in Lyon, Saturday March 23 and Chile in Marseille, three days later.

As announced on our site, the young Parisian Bradley Barcola does not appear there. Even if he won this season at PSG, notably scoring a goal against Real Sociedad in the round of 16 first leg (2-0), he is currently going through a more complicated period. After careful consideration, the Blues staff decided not to retain him but to recall Moussa Diaby. In the group, however, there are five Parisian players. There is of course the captain of the Blues Kylian Mbappé, Lucas Hernandez, Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani and the young Warren Zaire-Emery, who has just reached the age of majority.

The list of 23 for France-Germany and France-Chile

Goalkeepers: Maignan, Areola, Samba.

Defenders: Clauss, Koundé, Pavard, Upamecano, Konaté, Saliba, T Hernandez, L Hernandez.

Midfielders: Zaire-Emery, Camavinga, Tchouaméni, Fofana, Rabiot, Griezmann.

After his singular baptism of fire, a goal then an injury against Gibraltar in November (14-0), he should, this time, have a significantly more significant playing time and undoubtedly start one of the two matches.

The other uncertainty concerned the presence of Adrien Rabiot. Victim of a dislocated big toe in a shock during Juventus’ 3-2 victory over Frosinone on February 25, the midfielder is there as expected. However, we will have to wait for the next few days and in particular his presence, or not, on Sunday in Serie A against Genoa to have more certainty about him. In the middle, in addition to Youssouf Fofana, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni, who both had to miss out due to injury in November, are back.

For the rest, in the absence of Kingsley Coman, injured in a knee, Decisive against Inter Milan, Antoine Griezmann is also there. No change in the goalkeepers with a usual trio composed of Mike Maignan, Brice Samba and Alphonse Areola.

As for the defensive sector, Jonathan Clauss, heckled by the management of OM at the end of the winter transfer window, is called up in the same way as Jules Koundé. On the left flank, the two Hernandez brothers fend off the competition embodied by the Madrilenian Ferland Mendy. Finally, in the axis, we are also part of the continuity with a quartet made up of William Saliba, Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konaté.
