French team: against Chile, Deschamps will turn

After the slap received against Germany (2-0) on Saturday in Lyon, the Blues already have their minds turned towards their second meeting of this last gathering before the Euro. Didier Deschamps’ men have the opportunity to erase this defeat with the reception of Chile at the Vélodrome stadium in Marseille, Tuesday evening (9 p.m.).

A meeting that they began to prepare for this Sunday during closed-door training which took place late in the afternoon at Groupama Stadium. The majority of the starters from the day before remained in the room to receive treatment, while Lucas Hernandez, Jules Koundé, Adrien Rabiot and Warren Zaire-Emery cleaned up on the pitch. Players who had played little or not at all were entitled to a dynamic session with a bullfight and playing on a reduced pitch on the program.

After having lined up a starting eleven without much surprise against the Mannschaft, the national coach should this time carry out a significant rotation. Three months before the Euro, it is a last opportunity to see some less used players at work and others likely to strengthen the competition, since certain elements did not necessarily shine in Lyon.

Konaté and Camavinga time

While Mike Maignan will find his place in goal, Ibrahima Konaté is applying for a starting place in central defense. The identity of the player who will accompany him at the hinge remains to be determined: lacking playing time at Bayern Munich, Dayot Upamecano could form the pair with his ex-Leipzig teammate or give way to William Saliba, a little more in removal in the hierarchy in this position. On the sides, Jonathan Clauss and Théo Hernandez hold the rope.

Jostled by the Germans, the midfield will also experience changes. Absent from the previous gathering, Eduardo Camavinga will have the opportunity to show himself. The same should be true for Youssouf Fofana, while Mattéo Guendouzi and Aurélien Tchouaméni will compete for the last place in the midfield.

Up front, Olivier Giroud will likely find a starting place up front. With whom to support him? If a return to Kolo Muani’s eleven would make sense, one last place remains to be taken. Less used with PSG, Kylian Mbappé could continue. The last training session scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. will allow us to find out more.

The likely composition: Maignan – Clauss, Upamecano (or Saliba), Conate, Theo Hernandez – Guendouzi (or Tchouaméni), Camavinga, Fofana – Kolo Muani, Giroud, Mbappe.
