French Judo Team Continues to Shine in Antalya: Luka Mkheidze and Walide Khyar Impress

Friday, Frenchman Luka Mkheidze (28), selected in the -60 kg category for the Olympics, won a silver medal and confirmed his excellent form. The native of Tbilisi in Georgia now has four consecutive finals (two gold medals at the European Championships and the Grand Slam in Paris and two silver medals at the Grand Slams in Baku and Antalya). In Turkey, Luka Mkheidze won his first four fights before losing in the final, by waza-ari on golden score, against the Russian fighter, under neutral banner, Ayub Bliev.

In the same weight category, the other Frenchman entered, Cédric Revol, lost in the first round against the Tajik Mehrzod Sufiev.

Walide Khyar in bronze

In the -66 kg category, Walide Khyar won a bronze medal. The 28-year-old Bondynois, starter for the Olympic Games in Paris, won his first three fights before falling in the semi-final against the Japanese Hifumi Abe, Olympic champion in Tokyo and quadruple world champion. Faïza Mokdar continues her momentum
