French Elite and Adult 18m Shooting Championship: Archers Set to Battle in Vendée’s Vendéspace

From March 1st to 3rd, the archers will gather in Mouilleron-le-Captif in Vendée for the French Elite and Adult 18m Shooting Championship. After welcoming the youngest last year, the Vendéspace will this year be the meeting place for the older ones.

On this occasion, it is no less than 386 archers (214 in recurve bow, 114 in compound bow, 48 in barebow) and 224 clubs who will be represented at this event.

Archers to follow this weekend

In classic arch, Audrey Machinet (Arcis-sur-Aube), 2023 French champion, will put her title back on the line and will have to face opponents who will be thirsty for revenge. Notably, Louise Botte (Brienon on Armancon), beaten in the final last year. The bronze medalist, Madison Scheppers (Issy-les-Moulineaux), will also be present to try to win a medal again. Among the men, the door will be open for the archers since the 2023 finalists, Thomas Chirault (Clermont-Ferrand) and Bryan Bedrossian (Cannes Mandelieu) will not be there. Anthony Barbier(Brienon on Armancon), bronze medalist, will he be able to take advantage of these absences to win gold?

In compound arch, for women, Léa Girault (Compiègne), fresh bronze medalist at the European 18m Shooting Championship, will have the firm intention of continuing her momentum and improving her ranking from last year (5th) by getting on the podium this time. Especially since Sophie Dodémont (Sarcelles), the current reigning French Champion will be among those absent this weekend. At men’s, Nicolas Girard (Saint-Martin de Crau) will once again intend to retain its title of Champion of France against strong adversaries like Adrien Gontier (Compiègne), very recent European vice-champion in Varazdin (Croatia), Joan Pauner (Miramas) or Jean-Philippe Boulch (Rueil Malmaison).

And arc now, Noémie Richard (Carquefou) will put his title back into play without counting the presence of Virginie Chevrier (Lons le Saunier), another finalist of the 2023 edition, who will in turn try to win the title of Champion of France. Among the men, this also promises a great battle with the presence of the French Champion, Alexandre Antoine (Loos) who will have to be wary of David Jackson (Laurens), who came second last year and who will therefore be keen to have Gold around their neck at Vendéspace.

Competition will be high in the other Adult categories (S1,S2,S3), particularly in barebow with Lisa Andre (Montigny-les-Metz), bronze medalist at the European Championship in Croatia. 314 archers in recurve, compound or barebow will also try to win the title of French Champion during the finals which will take place on Sunday March 3.
