Francisco The Kid Rodríguez He made his debut this Saturday as coach of the Venezuelan national team and the team under his direction achieved a victory, 10 runs to 0, over Guatemala, which played on behalf of the WBSC at the start of the Baseball World Cup being held in the Dominican Republic.
Rodríguez’s team did not give their rivals any opportunities at the Baseball City complex, in Boca Chica, province of Santo Domingo. The national squad left for Quisqueya with the mission of revalidating the title achieved in the Valencia World Cup in 2022.
Both the squad led by Rodríguez, and the representation of Puerto Rico, were successful at the start of Group B of the U-15 Baseball Pre-World Cup that brings together 12 teams from the area in search of five places in the World Cup of the category with a venue to be defined.
Rodríguez’s troops will continue the action on Sunday the 17th against Peru and then against Cuba, Nicaragua and they close the first phase against Puerto Rico. Afterwards there will be a round-robin and the first five will qualify for the World Cup.
The matches in the Dominican World Cup will take place at the old facilities of the Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds at Baseball City in Boca Chica. Six games will be played daily starting at 10:00 in the morning.
