Four Vélez Sarsfield Players Accused of Collective Sexual Assault: A Shocking Incident in March 2024

A few days ago, Daniel Alves was sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison. Accused of sexual assault on a young woman in a nightclub in Barcelona in December 2022, the Brazilian was therefore found guilty. And he is unfortunately not the only footballer to be singled out for this type of heinous act. Indeed, AS reveals that four Vélez Sarsfield players, namely Abiel Osorio, José Florentín, Braian Cufré and Sebastián Sosa, have been accused of collective sexual assault by a 24-year-old young woman. The events took place on March 3. Invited by Sosa to his room at the Hilton hotel, the alleged victim went there. Once she arrived there, she realized that Cufré, Osorio and Florentín were also present at the scene. The footballers brought out beers and various alcoholic drinks to have a few drinks. The young woman began to feel unwell and lay down on one of the beds in the room. It was at this time that she was sexually assaulted without consent according to her statements.

Once she felt a little better, she ordered a taxi home. She then filed a complaint and the prosecution requested a thorough medical examination. In the process, Vélez Sarsfield published a press release. “Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield has taken note of the complaint for sexual abuse filed within the Prosecutor’s Unit for Crimes against Sexual Integrity of the province of Tucumán on March 6 of this year, in which four players are involved of our professional team. Given the seriousness of the complaint, the Board of Directors of Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield immediately made itself available to the Justice of Tucumán to provide all relevant information and elements in order to be able to contribute to the investigation and clarification of the matter, and determining responsibilities. Likewise, within the framework of the institution’s action protocol in cases of gender-based violence, it was decided to preventively separate from the professional team the players mentioned in the complaint, Sebastián Sosa, Braian Cufré, Abiel Osorio and José Ignacio Florentín.” To be continued…
