Football: emotion in Algeria after the death in the middle of a match of young Wassim Djezzar, 17 years old

A terrible drama occurred at the heart of a U17 match this Sunday in Algeria. Wassim Djezzar, player of NRB Oued El Ma, received a kick from behind between the legs during a duel with an opponent of TRB Arris.

The young boy collapsed. His head hit the ground and he did not regain consciousness. Transported by car to be treated, he finally succumbed to his injury.

The president of the Algerian Football Federation reacted in a press release published this Sunday: “It is with great sadness that the president of the Algerian Football Federation, Mr. Walid Sadi, learned the unfortunate news of the tragic death of the young player Wassim Djezzar, resident of the U17 team of NRB Oued El Ma (Batna League). President Sadi sends, on behalf of the members of the federal office, his most saddened condolences to the family of the deceased as well as to his club. »

During this match, no ambulance was available on site, local media reported. However, this measure is obligatory in Algeria since emergency services must be located in the direct vicinity of each meeting.

An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the young boy’s death. A commission of inquiry will also be responsible for finding out more about his care after the shock.
