Thursday (14/03) is decision day for Moleques de Xerém. Undefeated, Fluminense competes against Vasco in the final of the fifth edition of the Copa Olaria U16. The club defends the competition title in a classic scheduled to start at 3pm, on Rua Bariri.
The team led by coach Lindolfo Melo became a finalist in the tournament after beating Flamengo in the semifinals 1-0. After the victory at Fla-Flu, the squad re-introduced themselves to the club this Wednesday (13/03), at the Centro de Vale das Laranjeiras Training, in Xerém, for final adjustments.
“We want to start 2024 like we ended 2023, winning the title. We know the quality of the opponent and the greatness of a final with a classic, but we are focused on our objective, which is to be champion”, said midfielder and captain Peter, scorer of the goal that classified Fluminense for the final.

The generation of Moleques de Xerém born in 2008 won five of the 24 trophies in the most successful year in the club’s youth divisions, making up the category that raised the most cups and included players in the Brazilian National Team in 2023, like Peter himself. The kids dominated Rio by winning the four state tournaments, in addition to the Gama Paraguai Cup.
Reunion with Vasco
The final repeats the classic that decided the leadership of Group B of the Under-16 Olaria Cup. Fluminense and Vasco faced each other in the third and final round of the tournament’s qualifying phase, last Thursday (07/03), at Rua Bariri, with Tricolor coming out on top.
Moleques de Xerém reached seven points after beating their rival 3-0, with goals from Raynne and Wesley Natã (2), the club’s top scorer in the competition with a total of four.
