Fiorentina-Inter (0-3) – Scattered Considerations

A Fiorentina in mourning gets their second consecutive defeat in the Scudetto pool.

Second day of the Scudetto team in the women’s Serie A, second defeat of an unrecognizable Fiorentina. After the away defeat against Sassuolo, the Lilies slipped badly even in a Viola Park dressed in mourning, against a lethal and ruthless Inter, and above all still determined to have their say in this final season.

You have to wonder how the sudden death of general manager Joe Barone, always present and very close to the women’s team, weighed on the players’ heads. In a setting characterized by a heavy atmosphere, the Viola appeared dazed and distracted from the first minutes, guilty of repeated errors especially in the setup phase, ending up immediately behind and never managing to really get back into the game. If this year Fiorentina had shown its growth above all in maintaining the pitch and playing with order, in this match (where there was no shortage of opportunities up front, all at the feet of Janogy) De La Fuente’s team seemed unable to get back on track, offering only outbursts of frustration and slowly being accompanied off the pitch by an Inter in constant control;

New vibrations: starting from the start of the Scudetto championship, Inter seemed to breathe different air, safer, freer, and even more creative at times. Serturini on the one hand and Bonfantini on the other they hammer the opposing wingers in an increasingly unpredictable way, bringing a breath of fresh air to the offensive manoeuvre, one through 1 vs 1, the other almost always arriving at the shot/cross after having burned the opponent with speed. But beyond the offensive phase, the real litmus test yesterday was the defensive phase, never really solid or confident throughout the season so far. Perhaps the most important thing seen yesterday, despite the resounding result, was the absence of goals conceded.

Lina Magull at times he gives the impression of a bored deity, come to Earth in his spare time to observe these strange mortals. The scoreboard, enriched by the 1-0 assist and the doubling goal, would be enough to define his performance as dominant, as a true beacon on the Nerazzurri frontline leading his teammates. The simplicity with which he sends attackers to the goal and is always found where needed almost makes it seem as if he is playing with the handbrake on, such is his superiority. It’s almost a shame to note this and remember that today the team he plays for is nine points away from the Champions League zone:

Consideration more important must be spent towards Elisa Polli who yesterday, coming on as a substitute in the 66th minute for Cambiaghi, after less than two minutes provided an incredible assist for the 3-0 goal.
The neck hook that precedes the millimetric pass for Bonfantini highlights a remarkable technical cleanliness on the part of a player who during the season has demonstrated that she can be much more than an area predator. Yesterday, in general, her fresh approach to the match contributed, at the right time, to giving new life to Inter’s attacking phase, often dangerous in the last 20 minutes thanks to Polli’s play.
