FC Bayern Munich suffers setback in Euroleague play-in fight

Valencia (dpa) – The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich have suffered a setback in the fight for the play-ins in the Euroleague. Bayern unfortunately lost at Valencia Basket 68:70 (37:45).

Due to the defeat, Bayern missed out on overtaking the Spaniards, who had previously had the same number of points, in the table and also missed out on tenth place in the group, which was necessary for the play-ins. The best Munich thrower was Devin Booker with 16 points.

Bayern still have four match days left to reach the play-ins. They are currently twelfth with 13 wins. Partizan Belgrade and Valencia have 14 wins and are ahead of the Germans. Munich will continue against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Friday (8:30 p.m.).

Bayern slept through the opening phase and quickly fell behind in the Valencia cauldron. The deficit grew to 13 points by the end of the first quarter (15:28). In the second quarter the guests had overcome their nervousness and were now scoring better. So at halftime there was hope for a happy ending again.

After the break, the Bundesliga basketball team improved significantly and moved within one point (56:57) of the hosts. Munich took the lead right at the start of the final quarter. Valencia hit back again in an exciting, but particularly offensive game.
